To My State Representative and State Senator:

Whereas: The right of the people to keep and bear arms is protected by the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; and

Whereas: This inalienable right clearly includes the right to carry a handgun for self-defense; and

Whereas: Requiring law-abiding citizens to ask government permission and pay tribute before exercising their constitutional right to bear arms is a clear violation of that right; and

Whereas: Real-world experience and extensive research clearly demonstrate that restricting the right to bear arms in self-defense encourages violent crime;

Therefore: I submit my pledge of support for “Constitutional Carry” in North Carolina and urge lawmakers in the General Assembly follow the examples in Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming, Kansas, Maine, Idaho, Mississippi, West Virginia, Missouri, and New Hampshire by adopting “Constitutional Carry” legislation allowing law-abiding citizens to exercise their Second Amendment right to carry a firearm without government interference.
